Good Relations
Since 2000 Causeway Rural and Urban Network has delivered a range of good relations and community development projects for organisations, including the International Fund for Ireland, European Union through Peace I, II, III and IV funded programmes. Causeway Coast and Glens Council, the legacy Coleraine Borough Council, and the Executive Office Central Good Relations Fund.
We were the lead partner in a consortium of the three coastal community networks including Building Communities Resource Centre and Northern Area Community Network and the Interaction Institute for Social Change delivering a Peace IV funded project, which works with 35 community and voluntary groups delivering two programmes strands: capacity building and dialogue programme; and a leadership programme involving 340 individuals directly in the programme and over 2,000 indirectly through participation in the micro good relations projects resulting from resource allocations CRUN was the first organisation in Northern Ireland to develop an accredited Public Event Management Course designed by local groups. As well as providing accredited health and safety and marshalling training, this course also covers management of shared space and conflict management. Within our current strategic plan, our aim is to develop on the good relations work already carried out and develop new areas of work, particularly in building capacity of local people to manage shared space and create opportunities for citizenship. |
