Level 1 - Community Drugs Awareness

Approximately 15 hours contact time delivered over 5 x 3 hour sessions or as an intensive 2-day course

Who is this course for?

Absolutely ANYONE over the age of 17 (and there is a youth Level 1 course available for 14 – 17 year olds). This is a great starter course for those who have absolutely no idea about drugs and alcohol and just want to get a better idea of what’s out there, who is using what and why. It is suitable for absolute beginners right through to professionals who are having to deal with drug and alcohol related issues but who have little or no experience in the field.

Level 2 - Community Drugs Awareness

Approximately 30 hours contact time delivered over 10 x 3 hour sessions or as an intensive 5-day course

Who is this course for?
Absolutely ANYONE over the age of 17.

This course looks at not only the facts about drugs it also explores the impact of drug use on individuals, families and communities. It includes a chance to examine our own attitudes to drugs and users, and is suitable for absolute beginners right through to professionals who are having to deal with drug and alcohol related issues but who have little or no experience in the field. YOU DO NOT NEED TO COMPLETE LEVEL ONE TO DO LEVEL TWO. Both are open access programmes – the main difference being the time frame which allows for much greater exploration and discussion at Level 2.

Accreditation
7 credits with Open College Network @ Level 2 (on the National Qualifications Framework)


Level 3 - Train the Trainer: Drug and Alcohol Practitioner

Approximately 180 hour course delivered through 12 days direct learning, personal preparation and planning and training delivery time. Delivered as full days training normally over 3 x blocks of 4 days (1-day per week). This course normally runs over a 6 month period

Who is this course for?
Anyone who
• Has a drug and alcohol training remit and wants to gain accredited status
• Is working in the drug field (e.g. youth outreach workers) and wants to do training
• Is from the community and wants to become a community trainer
• Trainers who want to move into the drug and alcohol training field
To do this course you must hold a Level 2 Drugs Awareness qualification or be able to demonstrate the required level of drug knowledge.
