New Training for Community Groups

 

A new accredited Training course is being run by CRUN this commencing Autumn 2007.

The Course Entitled Community Development Work Skills" is accredited by the Open College Network and is taught at Level 2.

This course aims to give participants an understanding of the range of skills needed to be an effective community development worker, and the opportunity to develop these skills: these include

  • Gathering information about the communities they are working with and within
  • Understanding groups & how they work
  • Tackling exclusions and working to promote inclusion
  • Setting priorities and planning
  • Identifying resources  

The course is for any community activist, volunteer or person interested in learning more about Community Development work.It develops skills and  knowledge that will enable people to enhance their effectiveness in community work The amount of learning will amount to 3 credits.

This course is one of the units that combined with other courses will lead to a Level Two Certificate in Community Development which enhances the learners progression to employment in Community Development.

The content is manageable and the learning is in a group setting.

The time commitment will be 12 two hour sessions and a little bit of homework.

Dates are yet to be finalised but will run on Wednesday evenings (starting October 2007)
